Jeff Mohamed

Over 35 Years in TEFL

Born and educated in Britain, Jeff has lived and worked in the USA since 1990. He is internationally respected as an expert on many aspects of TEFL, including teacher training and the overseas job market.

Jeff's educational qualifications include a BA degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Durham University, the International Teacher Training Institute Certificate in TEFL and the RSA/Cambridge Diploma in TEFLA.

Jeff's 35-year career in TEFL includes:

From 1991 through 1998, Jeff directed English International's Cambridge CELTA program, which was widely regarded as one of the most innovative and effective TEFL-training programs in the world.

From 1993 through 1998, he was Cambridge's Joint Chief Assessor responsible for monitoring standards in all Cambridge CELTA centers in the USA, Canada and Latin America.

From 1999 through 2002, he taught Cambridge CELTA courses at St Giles San Francisco.

From January 2003 through June 2004, he taught ESL classes and CELTA courses at North Harris College in Houston, Texas.

 

Current Activities

Since July 2004, Jeff has been the Program Manager for ESL and CELTA programs at Cy-Fair College, Houston.

He combines his duties at Cy-Fair College with running the English International Distance TEFL program and with writing. His bestselling book "Teaching English Overseas - A Job Guide for Americans and Canadians" and his "Grammar Development Course For American Teachers of EFL/ESL" have been widely praised. He recently completed workbooks and teacher's guides for a series of Oxford University Press textbooks for Egyptian primary schools.

In January 2005, Jeff was appointed Cambridge Joint Chief Assessor for CELTA courses in the USA and Mexico.
